ABOUT US
We are an independent publisher and registered charity (non-profit organisation) dedicated to making available the work of Rudolf Steiner in English translation. We care a great deal about the content of our books and have hundreds of titles available – as printed books, ebooks and in audio formats.
As a publisher devoted to anthroposophy:
- We continually commission translations of previously unpublished works by Rudolf Steiner and invest in re-translating, editing and improving our editions.
- We are committed to making anthroposophy available to all by publishing introductory books as well as contemporary research.
- Our new print editions and ebooks are carefully checked and proofread for accuracy, and converted into all formats for all platforms.
- Our translations are officially authorised by Rudolf Steiner’s estate in Dornach, Switzerland, to whom we pay royalties on sales, thus assisting their critical work.
A number of organizations have published Rudolf Steiner’s works since the early 1900s, but Rudolf Steiner Press is now the sole publisher and distributor of his work in the UK. Our company has gone under various guises over the decades, but was established as Rudolf Steiner Press Ltd. and as a registered charity in 1991. It remains an independent company and charity with its own board of trustees, but is closely associated with the Anthroposophical Society in Great Britain.
Rudolf Steiner Press works closely with its sister organization, SteinerBooks, in the USA. Although independent, we distribute each other’s books and cooperate on publishing programmes.
The company has been managed and directed by Sevak Gulbekian since January 1994.
Given the specialist nature of our publishing and the many translations that need to be commissioned, we welcome funding by individuals and / or organizations. ABOUT RUDOLF STEINER
Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925) called his spiritual philosophy “anthroposophy”, meaning “wisdom of the human being”. As a highly developed seer, he based his work on direct knowledge and perception of spiritual dimensions. He initiated a modern and universal “science of spirit”, accessible to anyone willing to exercise clear and unprejudiced thinking.
From his spiritual investigations Steiner provided suggestions for the renewal of many activities, including education (both general and special), agriculture, medicine, economics, architecture, science, philosophy, religion and the arts. Today there are thousands of schools, clinics, farms and other organizations involved in practical work based on his principles. His many published works feature his research into the spiritual nature of the human being, the evolution of the world and humanity, and methods of personal development. Steiner wrote some 30 books and delivered over 6000 lectures across Europe. In 1924 he founded the General Anthroposophical Society, which today has branches throughout the world.
